Easter, a time to celebrate new life and second changes. A time to recognize the growth (despite how small) that has sprung up during our 40 day fast. At the start of our journey the 'seed of desire' was planted in the dry deserts of our hearts. This seed represented our 'yes' to God and our longing to let go of what is not life-giving and embrace instead the one who willingly laid down his life for us all; Jesus Christ.
As I looked out my window today I was struck with the beauty of the landscape and the forest beyond my yard. The scenery was exploding with deep and brilliant colors of green each slightly different from the another. The ground cover was filled with tiny yellow flowers that resembled a thick carpet.
Scattered throughout the flower beds I could see the fragile perennials finding the courage to reach up above the earth. Amazing beauty unfolding in awesome splendor, yet humble and quiet God's creation was reverberating with new life and great dignity.
In Luke's gospel we read (12:28), "And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?" Easter has given us renewed hope and courage to continue our journey of faith to our heavenly home. While, on this earth we must continue to cultivate and care for our spiritual growth and well-being. Learning to trust and love God with our future and our loved ones is essential in order to experience everlasting life.
Today I ask you to notice not only God's beautiful earth, but the beauty that is within you. A beauty that radiates God's love and cannot be purchased or manipulated. Turn your attention toward the SON who longs to shine on YOU and help you grow into the beautiful creation you were meant to be!
